For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way. Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

I'm not gonna lie, this book was entertaining and the pacing of the story was not too slow or too fast. But it had so many tropes and I couldn't help but find this book to be so cliche and predictable. I wish that I enjoyed this more, but the more books I read, the higher my expectations are. If I read an amazing book, I can't stop myself from comparing other books to it. Every book isn't for me, but I wish to read books that I enjoy so that I don't get into another huge reading slump.

I just wanted a quick pick-me-up contemporary, so I picked this one up for a re-read! I love macallan and levi, and i'm a total sucker for best friends turned something else!!

I absolutely loved, loved, loved, loved this novel, and since it's set in Wisconsin, it made it even better. Levi is, as my friends at Swoony Boys Podcast would say, totally swoon worthy! Told in alternating points of view, BETTER OFF FRIENDS IS contemporary YA novel perfection. <3 <3I can't wait for this novel to be released to the world so that EVERYONE can enjoy it!
