Narrative Conducive To Books Be Careful What You Wish For (The Clifton Chronicles #4)
Bestselling author Jeffrey Archer's Be Careful What You Wish For opens with Harry Clifton and his wife Emma rushing to hospital to learn the fate of their son Sebastian, who has been involved in a fatal car accident. But who died, Sebastian or his best friend Bruno? When Ross Buchanan is forced to resign as chairman of the Barrington Shipping Company, Emma Clifton wants to replace him. But Don Pedro Martinez intends to install his puppet, the egregious Major Alex Fisher, in order to destroy the Barrington family firm just as the company plans to build its new luxury liner, the MV Buckingham.
Back in London, Harry and Emma's adopted daughter wins a scholarship to the Slade Academy of Art where she falls in love with a fellow student, Clive Bingham, who asks her to marry him. Both families are delighted until Priscilla Bingham, Jessica's future mother-in-law, has a visit from an old friend, Lady Virginia Fenwick, who drops her particular brand of poison into the wedding chalice.
Then, without warning, Cedric Hardcastle, a bluff Yorkshireman who no one has come across before, takes his place on the board of Barringtons. This causes an upheaval that none of them could have anticipated, and will change the lives of every member of the Clifton and Barrington families. Hardcastle's first decision is who to support to become the next chairman of the board: Emma Clifton or Major Alex Fisher? And with that decision, the story takes yet another twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Be Careful What You Wish For showcases the master storyteller's talent as never before – when the Clifton and Barrington families march forward into the sixties, in this epic tale of love, revenge, ambition and betrayal.

A quick and easy read which introduces a new character and focuses on a Boardroom meeting, deception, family struggle, and good vs evil. Turns boring sometimes but liked it.I believe this is the 4th of the series and it has continued to be an interesting fictional story of two different families. I think this one has the 4th generation in their early 20s and it's full of mystery, romance, murder and intrigue. I'd highly recommend the series.
Another thrilling edge of your seat book by Archer, as we are now on the 4th episode of the Clifton family chronicles. We have a lot of plot twists and some unexpected events that keep you on a roller coaster ride. We have death, bankruptcy, Barrington Shipping intrigue, deportations and more. Again, to get the full flavor of this series you really need to read them from the beginning in order to get all the subtle nuances. Once I was able to give this book my attention it took barely a day to

I see many of you saying wait til you have the whole series before reading I agree I have this series on my shelf for 2 years, but now that we are
Archer's heptalogy continues with the fourth instalment of the Clifton Chronicles. The novel opens hoping to resolve the major cliffhanger after Sebastian is in a major car accident and someone has died. Harry and Emma rush to the hospital to get the news, which changes their lives forever. Emma cannot sit by idly as Barrington Shipping's chairman resigns, leaving her the opportunity to fill the void. Don Pedro Martinez, a powerful new enemy of the Cliftons, uses his company shares in an attempt
I used to love Jeffrey Archer's novels. I guess my tastes have changed over the years. The last few I've read just have bored me. I don't care about the characters or the plots. Ho hum. And it wasn't until I got to the end that I realized it was one in a series of books, so it left off like the cliffhanger of a TV series, which made me feel duped. Nowhere on the cover does it say it's one of a series. Phooey to Jeffrey Archer. It's the last of his that I'll bother with. What's with these authors
The books in this series all follow a sort of pattern, and I just knew that this of course would end with another cliffhanger where you don't know who in the Clifton / Barrington families will or will not survive. It's for that reason I never mention any of their names in my reviews. This takes place in the 60s and the women have really come into their own. Simon Wiesenthal makes a brief appearance, along with the IRA, and I was also introduced to the British food product fish paste. Reading
